Transgressive – Involving a violation of accepted or imposed religious and/or social rules.

No matter the creative project I’m working on, transgression is the foundation of everything in my life. I’ve always lived on the margins and nearly everything about me transgresses the dominant culture and religion in the US. Whether by choice or circumstance, I’m at odds with the mainstream.

Transgression is vital to my ability to thrive in a culture that endeavors to oppress my humanness. When I transgress I refuse to submit to this anti-human culture’s stories of superiority. Transgression is my road to liberation.

Regarding this newsletter, I’m currently working on a heavily researched book in response to the conversation that’s been unfolding since #metoo about feminism and the sexual revolution. Many of the women writing about this topic have not experienced a sex positive community. I produced erotic parties in rural northern California for several years, so I have a unique perspective on sex, relationships, and safety. I plan to work out book content through monthly pieces written for this space.

I will also be writing a piece monthly about supremacy culture and its impact on all of our relationships. Between community building for 20+ years in a variety of contexts and experiencing the rupture and repair of an open adoption, I have learned some things about unravelling our superiority and nurturing safer relationships in all areas of life. I hope to be helpful as I witness many relationships and communities rupture these days. No one seems to believe repair is possible, but I know from experience that it is if people are willing to do the deep personal work required.
